“But I don’t know what to do dad. It’s hard. I’ve been everywhere, I’ve travelled through space and time and the one person who I love can’t love me back or even understand what it’s like to love. She’s nice, she’s sweet she’s....” Jack rubbed his temples as he sat at the base of the centre control console for the TARDIS, his dad not far from him under the metal flooring trying to fix or find something. Jack never got what he was doing sometimes, no matter what time he was in. “I can’t imagine her not being there, how innocent and curious she is. It’s different from most girls but at the same time I can’t do anything more.”
The Doctor made a few loud clanking sounds followed by his arm reaching up for his sonic screwdriver. Jack passed it to him of course. “Well, to put it bluntly you either stay with her or you don’t. There are always two paths to everything...well unless your me in which case there’s about a million paths that overlap and...” He frowned and stopped his train of thought. “If you love her stay with her.”
“She’s not stupid she knows it’s hard for us. I’ve had girls taking more of an interest in me and not once have I thought about leaving her for them. I’m not like that and Laura, like I keep saying there’s something about her I love. I don’t want anyone else.”
“You do have it bad.” The Doctors head sprang up out the floor and grinned.
“I do but what can I do? She won’t ever feel the same.”
